Have you been looking for a new controller? It would seem you are in luck! Yesterday at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas; Microsoft, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix unveiled the limited edition Tomb Raider Xbox 360 controller that will release the same day as the game.
Developed in collaboration with artists at Crystal Dynamics, the design of the controller features a two-layer colour finish with laser etching to create a realistic and tactile worn appearance. It’s inspired by Lara’s iconic climbing axe and the tourniquets that result from the adventure in her intense origin story, as told in this latest title. The controller also features a customisable D-pad that switches from a “plus” design to a “disc” pattern for better control, and a wireless range of up to 30-feet that allows for more freedom in your home environment as you explore and play the game. A while ago we reported the the new Tomb Raider game being developed by Crystal Dynamics was delayed until 2013. While it is still coming out next year, we got our first glimpse of some gameplay footage from E3 today. It features Lara showing off some fancy parkour-esque moves over very high gorges, shooting some dudes with an arrow in the knee, knocking one poor sap over the edge of a cliff and perhaps going a little overboard with fire.
On top of all that cool parkour, shooting dudes in the knee and setting them on fire. Crystal Dynamics also announced that the first batch of downloadable content will be available on the Xbox 360 first. Tomb Raider is set to release on March 5th, 2013.
Crystal Dynamics’ reboot of Tomb Raider has now also been delayed until an unspecified time next year. Crystal Dynamics’ Head of Studio, Darrell Gallagher, addressed fans directly with the following announcement on the Tomb Raider Website and Crystal Dynamics Blog.
As much as we believe that Crystal Dynamics want to blow our minds with what is already a gamers favourite female franchise (how could it not be) maybe we will see a multiplayer mode yet.
In the meantime young Miss Croft will be redoing all of her playlists on her Ipod.
