In practice, writing a “review” of a beta is not the wisest thing to do. With that said, try not to think of this as a “review” of the Destiny beta but merely my thoughts on it as a Guardian within The Last City. For those that are unsure what Destiny is, it is Bungie’s sort of shooter/MMO hybrid with the setting of various different planets in our solar system. Yes, you can actually go to the moon.
In celebration of the PlayStation 4 being released on Friday, Bungie announced to their fans that the beta for their upcoming project Destiny will be releasing on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 first. The beta is expected to start some time in early 2014, with the games launch rumored to be in the Spring of 2014 as well.
In order to gain a spot in the beta, just simply pre-order the game from your preferred retailer. You can locate that information on this page. Also as part of this announcement, we received a little trailer featuring footage in-engine on a PlayStation 4.
Let us know what you think about the beta arriving on the PS3 / PS4 first in the comments section!
Yesterday the cover art for Bungie’s new IP Destiny was unveiled for the systems it will be released on. Today we saw the arrival of a new trailer; showcasing one destination that many have been waiting for, the moon.

Open Call, More Testers Welcome for 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta!
The amount of interest we received in July for the 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta was so staggering that today we’re announcing a second open call for Xbox LIVE subscribers to test out the beta program. I can tell you that we’re accepting far more beta-testers this time around, but space is still limited and once the spots are filled the beta will be closed, so sign up today!
If you’re selected, an update will be pushed to your Xbox 360 in the next few days. The update will contain new Xbox LIVE features, including:
- Internet Explorer for Xbox
- Recommendations and ratings
- Pinning and favorites
- Enhanced category search and discovery features
- Voice search (in specified markets)
Note: A console in the program is expected to remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program.
You will be required to agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for confidentiality reasons. Any participant who violates the NDA will be removed from this beta and all Xbox betas moving forward, and will not have access to Xbox LIVE until the end of this beta program period. Our NDA enforcement squad is really good at finding violators; so save us both the trouble and don’t test them. We also ask that you fill out a brief 5-minute survey at the end of the beta to let us know what you think. Continue Reading
Even though EA has yet to officially announce any sequel to the highly popular Battlefield series, Customers who Pre-Order Medal Of Honour: Warfighter, will gain exclusive access to the Battlefield 4 Beta, according to an advertisement on EA’s digital distribution service. This has since been removed by EA. This is interesting because of no official Battlefield 4 announcement from DICE or EA, and because Battlefield 3 DLC’s will continue until March 2013.
Clicking the “Pre-Order” button will not have any more information on Battlefield 4 and neither does the official Battlefield website.
While not being officially announced, another addition to the increasingly popular Battlefield series is hardly surprising, Battlefield 3 is still selling well and more than 800,000 people have signed up for Battlefield Premium.
Rumours of new Battlefield games have been in the air for some time. EA president Frank Gibeau confirmed Battlefield 4 in an off-handed comment last year, and Battlefield Bad Company 3 appeared on an employee resume recently. Also a retailer listed a title called “Battlefield Evolved” back in March.
IGN have questioned EA about Battlefield 4 and they will update with any comment they receive. Until then, we just have to sit here and wonder, “Could it be real?”
