This past weekend at Rooster Teeth’s annual convention (RTX) 343 Industries unveiled and showcased the next pieces of DLC for last years Halo 4. It will feature two new maps, a new gametype, several new skins for weapons, new armor pieces, and stances for your Spartan ID.
Being shown first were two new maps in the Bullseye Pack, Vertigo and Pitfall. With Pitfall being introduced it also marked the return of Halo 3’s The Pit.
Not only will Pitfall add another medium-sized symmetrical map to Halo 4 Matchmaking, but the remake also includes updated features (such as strategically placed crates and ledges) that provide increased pace and flow. Whether you’re playing Capture the Flag, Slayer or the new Ricochet game type, Pitfall will bring back memories of sweet, sweet carnage on The Pit. We’re excited to integrate both of these awesome maps into Halo 4 Matchmaking next month.
Also shown off was Vertigo, which is perfect for a simple game of Slayer or the more team oriented Extraction mode. It is also best when played with 8-10 players, so grab some friends and enjoy the ensuing carnage!
Vertigo also touts the return of a dynamic, interactive element in a Halo multiplayer map: Each base has a trigger point that depletes the shields of all players in range when shot. The map also contains a series of caves on each side as well as three levels of verticality, providing players with several different routes for attacking each base.
Lastly as part of the Bullseye Pack, players will be receiving a brand new game mode titled “Ricochet”. Here is how best to describe this new mode:
The objective of the game type is to protect your team’s goal (a zone that is similar to a Hill in King of the Hill) while scoring in the opposing goal, either by throwing or running the ball into the goal. Running the ball into the goal earns you 50 points, while throwing the ball into the goal gets you 20 points.
Ricochet will be available as an exclusive to the Bullseye pack for two weeks; afterwards it will be made available to the public. If you would like to see Ricochet in action, check out the Halo 4 panel that was at RTX and skip to around the 55 minute mark. http://www.twitch.tv/343industries/b/426695009
Also part of the Champions Bundle is a trio of new armor sets to don your Spartan with in War Games. Entitled the “Infinity Armor Pack, you’ll be granted a set of classic Mark V armor, ODST styled armor and the Forerunner styled PREFECT armor.
But that’s not all! You will also be able to download more skins for your weapons with the Steel Skin Pack. This pack features a Steampunk look for each weapon you can equip in your custom loadouts.
Each pack will be sold separately with the Steel Skin Pack and Infinity Armor Pack being 240 Microsoft Points each and the Bullseye Pack being 480 Microsoft Points. You can also purchase all of these items for 800 Microsoft Points. The Champions Bundle will be available on August 20th.
For a limited time, if you purchase the bundle you will also receive additional bonus content. The first of these are more skins for your assault rifle, battle rifle and pistol.
Also as part of the bonus content you will be granted eight new stances for your player card.
As well as five additional skins for your armor, Tracer, Column, Python, Bayonet, and Solid. We do not have any additional information on these skins however.
The last addition to the bonus content list is a sneak peek at the “Resistor” armor mod. This mod will allow players to retain full mobility despite if you are taking fire. It will eventually become available to all players at no additional cost.
