Monster Island on Windows Phone – Mini Review
It appears that monsters have invaded your island and it seems the best way to get rid of them is using your “mini-monster bombs”. There are 5 different types of bombs you will unlock through playing the game that change the mechanics of what you can do using them. From straight forward explode as you hit ones to sticky rocks that let you stick other bombs to them to get into hard to reach places.
Each island contains about 60+ levels that start off easy and then get harder as you progress. You will be awarded a star score out of 3 for each level completed. You need more stars to unlock islands and of course get those lovely achievements.
The mechanics are simple, your “friendly” monster starts out on the left side of the screen and you will use your finger to define the angle and speed you want to throw your bombs at in order to hit those pesky little invaders. You are presented at the beginning of each level with a limited supply of bombs in order to complete and the less you use the more stars you gain for each level.
This is a fun little game that is well suited to a pick up and play gameplay style so you can fit in a level or two when you have a few free moments. If you get stuck on a level you can unlock solutions to see how to complete it or skip them entirely. This of course may limit the overall difficulty of the game as you can easily find out how to pass a level.
You will earn coins as well as stars for completing the levels and these can be used to unlock new characters, solutions, skips and early level unlocks. Of course if you are impatient you can purchase coins from the store but I’d not recommend it, just keep playing to get the coins you need.
The achievements are all fairly straight forward and will come through playing the game without requiring too much time with exception of the all-star completion achievements which might require you to retry some levels to get them perfect.
Overall, this is a fun little game that you will probably enjoy but it won’t keep your attention forever. It will give you some easy achievements if you just want to boost your score of course. Currently this game if free to download but that promotion isn’t likely to last long. For free, you have no reason not to download this. After that, don’t pay any more than £0.79p for this. It is fun, but not that fun.
