“SquidGrip provides a low-profile, firm and padded surface for your hands – without disrupting the natural feel of your controller. Developed using moisture-wicking technology, no other product alleviates sweaty hands and improves overall grip and comfort like SquidGrip™
Whether you’re a hard-core gamer seeking a competitive edge through superior grip and comfort, or simply looking for something that truly works at combating sweaty hands – SquidGrip delivers!”
This week IVG staff had the opportunity to review the very popular controller gaming grips from SquidGrip. When we received our set the first things you come across is the neat, light and very informational packaging which comes with all the things you need to upgrade your controller. Now as a general person that is always excited at getting something new I couldn’t wait to get them stuck on and then I remembered they have to be stuck on. When it comes to sticking things and getting it all even with no air bubbles I generally fail and end up pulling it off and trying again if possible, but with SquidGrip’s easy guide which is included in the pack there, I had no problem at all. If you are still a bit uneasy about fitting the grips onto your controller you can find some really helpful videos on SquidGrip’s official YouTube or from other gamers.
So what’s in the pack?
Inside the single pack you will find
1x left side grip
1x right side grip
2x oval SquidGrip worded badges
2x circular badges with little Squids on
1x SquidGrip Sticker
Instruction manual (Men, just read it. Its painless)
The packaging when you gaze upon it is simple, and enticing you into what is inside. The professional look of the packaging would defiantly catch your eye if sold in retail stores. The grips themselves are a nice smooth feeling pad in black and look fantastic, unfortunately they only come in black but we look forward to seeing some other colours being made available in the future.
So what does the grip actually feel like? A-MA-ZING! The foam adds an extremely comfortable layer to the controller and does not impede on your gaming whatsoever. The grips are made from latex free and micro-bial foam that is capable of suppressing the growth of microorganisms or germs festering on your controller.
Hands on Info
Sweaty hands have always been an issue for gamers and while I am lucky not to suffer with this all through the year, I will certainly appreciate the extra grip come summertime. Most gamers can think back to a time where they have played for a few hours only to find that your controller decides to slip out of position and you have to readjust and with SquidGrips this will become a thing of the past. After gaming for a fair few hours and even coming back from doing the washing up with damp hands i have had no slippage using my controller at all. For those of you that like to keep your controllers looking nice as wear and tear will eventually start to show after heavy use, you do have the ability to be able to remove the grips as SquidGrip use non-permanent adhesive that will not damage your controller, allowing you to remove and reapply the product. Squid Grip also have an array of alternative badging patterns and colours to further customise your controller which you can see below at an additional cost of $2.99USD which on today’s rates is £2.00GBPS.
Are They Worth It?
Undoubtedly SquidGrip have an incredibly good product that does just what they say it will. The controller becomes much more comfortable and nicer to use, so yes. They are defiantly worth it and at a bargain price too. I have found myself looking to see if I can add squid grips to my retractable dog leads just to make them a little more comfortable!
The Pricing is $14.99USD for a set of grips which works out to about £10.04GBPS which is a very competitive price.
The Only Cons’s that IVG UK have about the product is that the pads come in just one colour (black) & texture pattern, other than that we have found no other faults or drawbacks while using the product.
Overall the product is really awesome and SquidGrip receives a score of 9/10.
